The highlight of our journey is the legendary Nyungwe Canopy Walk, a breathtaking suspended bridge hovering 70 meters above the forest floor. Day 1: Scenic Drive to Nyungwe & Tea Plantation Visit (Saturday)- 7:00 AM: Departure from Kigali. Our comfortable and spacious tour bus will pick you up from our designated meeting point.
- En Route: We’ll journey southwest, witnessing the stunning, rolling hills that give Rwanda its name, “the Land of a Thousand Hills.” We will make a stop at the King’s Palace Museum in Nyanza for a fascinating glimpse into Rwanda’s royal history.
- 1:00 PM: Arrive at our lodge near Nyungwe Forest, check in, and enjoy a delicious lunch.
- 3:00 PM: Immerse yourself in the local landscape with a guided tour of the lush Gisakura Tea Plantations. Learn about the tea-making process from leaf to cup and savor the incredible panoramic views.
- 7:00 PM: Dinner at the lodge, followed by a relaxing evening under the stars, listening to the sounds of the forest.
- 5:00 AM: An early start with a packed breakfast as we head to the park headquarters for a briefing on our chimpanzee tracking adventure.
- 6:00 AM: Begin our trek into the forest with experienced park rangers. The search for the chimpanzees is an adventure in itself, filled with unique flora and the calls of exotic birds.
- Morning: Spend a magical hour observing the chimpanzee family in their natural habitat.
- 12:30 PM: Return to the lodge for a well-deserved lunch and some rest.
- 2:30 PM: Head out for the main event – the Nyungwe Canopy Walk! We’ll hike the Igishigishigi trail to reach the 160-meter-long suspended walkway. The views and the feeling of being suspended above the forest are truly once-in-a-lifetime.
- 7:30 PM: Celebratory dinner at the lodge, sharing stories and photos from an incredible day.
- 9:00 AM: Enjoy a final, leisurely breakfast at the lodge.
- 10:00 AM: Check out and begin our scenic drive back to Kigali.
- 1:00 PM: We will make a stop for lunch in Huye.
- 4:00 PM (approx.): Arrive back in Kigali, where we will drop you off at the original meeting point, filled with memories that will last a lifetime.
