Itinerary
Your morning begins with a pick-up from a Kigali hotel or residence, where you are met by your professional safari driver-guide, who will go over the day's activities with you. You then embark on the short city tour, which includes a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. The moving memorial site provides a deep, emotional understanding of Rwanda's history and its people in memory of the people who lost their lives during the 1994 genocide.
Next, you will depart to Musanze, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. The drive will be through amazingly beautiful Rwanda landscapes: rolling hills and very lush countryside. On arrival at your lodge, you will have some time for relaxation and using the available amenities. You will retire for dinner and take the evening at leisure as you prepare for the adventures awaiting you.

Wake up early and enjoy a full breakfast before heading out to the headquarters, where you will get a briefing regarding tomorrow's hiking. Take a cup of African coffee or tea as you go through other adventurers getting ready for the trek. Mount Bisoke hike is quite challenging yet rewarding; it takes almost four hours to ascend and two hours to descend, depending on your pace of walk and the number of stopovers along the way. In this gradual rise upwards, you get treated to the most amazing and panoramic viewers of the surrounding volcanic landscape and the Lake Kivu at times. The summit highlight of this trek viewed with the breathtaking Bisoke Crater Lake in the caldera will be a time for you to take some time to relax, have a picnic lunch, and take in the awe-some scenes before starting to descend.

After the hike, you will be taken back to your lodge for rest and recuperation, evening at leisure.

Your full day gets underway with an early breakfast followed by a return to Volcanoes National Park for Golden Monkey trekking. After the pre-trek briefing at park headquarters, you will begin your ranger-guided trek into lush bamboo forests of Volcanoes National Park in search of these creatures. The Golden Monkeys are an absolute enjoyment to be seen with their striking golden fur and playful antics as they leap from tree to tree. You will have a captivating hour of observation of these playful primates in their natural habitat, capturing incomparable memories and photographs. Later on, after the trek, drive back to the lodge for an early lunch before check-out. Later, your driver-guide will transfer you back to Kigali, either dropping you off at your hotel or transferring you directly to Kigali International Airport for your departure, depending on your flight schedule.
